What media formats does iPhone support?

What video format does iPhone record in?
The default recording format for iPhone is H.264 QuickTime files in MOV format. But you can change your iPhone recording setting into the High Efficiency option in HEVC format (H.265).
Is a live photo the same as a video file?
No. A Live photo contains both a still image photograph and a video. Before the video plays, you can see the still image. The quality of the still photo in a live photo is better quality than the video frame.
Can iPhone play M4V files?
Yes. iPhone can play the purchased protected DRM files directly. However, if you import an M4V video from others without authorization, iPhone fails to play it.
